The goal of Billerud’s co-op program is to cultivate the development of potential future human resources and leadership resources for our organization while providing high-quality support to the mill’s operations group(s).   Co-op assignments are structured to provide candidates with opportunities to grow and develop in their chosen discipline as well as educate them on various career paths within the organization. Although there is no guarantee of future employment, our goal is to have our Co-ops fully capable of stepping into a full-time position within our organization by the end of the program.

The Human Resources Co-op is a full-time, paid position designed to provide hands-on experience within a dynamic HR team over a 7–8 month assignment. The co-op will work closely with HR team members and business partners to support a variety of human resources activities and administrative functions. Responsibilities include providing phone support, data entry, filing, maintaining employee records, and assisting with other HR projects and initiatives as needed. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in human resources while developing professional skills in a collaborative business environment.

Kvalifikationer

Key Accountabilities:

  • Monitor and respond to messages, and place daily phone calls to hourly production employees to support staffing needs and fill open vacancies.
  • Prepare and distribute employee job transfer documentation and correspondence.
  • Post and maintain job bid notices in production areas in accordance with established processes.
  • Generate vacation reports and accurately enter employee vacation schedules into the HR system.
  • Maintain employee records in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), including new hires, transfers, terminations, job classification changes, merit increases, and leave of absence information.
  • Update employee job movement and position change information within HR systems.
  • Support the hourly hiring process by scheduling interviews, preparing interview materials, and assisting with recruitment-related activities.
  • Collect and compile non-confidential HR data for monthly metrics, reporting, and analysis.
  • Provide general administrative and operational support to the Human Resources team and assist with special projects as assigned.

Personliga egenskaper

Minimum Required Education and Experience

  • Completion of at least one year of college coursework and currently enrolled in, or planning to enroll in, the next academic semester.
  • Pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Must be available to work one of two Co-op rotations which run either January through August or May through December.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to actively listen and communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Word.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and utilize new software applications and HR systems, such as Dayforce.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage deadlines, and effectively solve problems.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive information and communicating challenging messages.
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the United States for other than practical training (Student work VISA does not qualify).
