Summary Description:

The Process Engineer Supervisor – Pulp & Recovery is responsible for managing the technical engineering group supporting the pulp mill (Fiberline), recovery operations, and utility systems. This role leads a team of Process and Production Engineers focused on optimizing safety, environmental performance, reliability, and cost efficiency across pulping, chemical recovery, and energy generation systems.

The supervisor drives process optimization, capital and reliability projects, and operational troubleshooting while ensuring alignment with mill production, quality, and sustainability goals. This role also supports long-term strategic initiatives, including energy efficiency, chemical recovery optimization, and environmental compliance improvements.

Kvalifikationer

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage Technical group project load, including prioritization, execution, and alignment with mill objectives.
  • Champion safety and environmental compliance across all technical activities, with strong focus on recovery boiler, causticizing, and utilities systems.
  • Support daily operations through process troubleshooting and root cause analysis in fiberline, recausticizing, evaporation, recovery boiler, and utilities.
  • Lead and support process optimization initiatives to improve yield, chemical efficiency, energy utilization, and equipment reliability.
  • Drive strategic improvement projects related to:
  • Chemical recovery efficiency
  • Steam and power generation optimization
  • Water and energy reduction
  • Cost savings and reliability improvements
  • Coordinate and support capital projects, trials, and process changes.
  • Develop and mentor engineers and technical resources within the group.
  • Utilize data and systems to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement

 

Required Experience and Education:
Minimum Required Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or related discipline preferred).
  • Commit to work safely and promote others to do so as well.
  • 5 years of experience in operations and/or technical responsibilities in manufacturing or BS degree in Engineering.
  • Ability to lead and work cooperatively and effectively with a team towards a common goal.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Computer skills with strong Excel knowledge.
  • Confident self-starter with demonstrated ability to plan and organize.
  • Proven experience with: Leading and Advocating Change, Drive for
  • Results, Communication, Managerial Courage, Building an Effective Team, and Managing through Systems.

  • Maintain knowledge of corporate, state, and federal safety rules and regulations.
  • Physical stamina and agility to conduct on-site inspections of the facility and equipment

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in kraft pulping, chemical recovery, and/or utility systems (steam/power generation).
  • Understanding of recovery boiler operations, evaporation and recausticizing processes and energy and steam balance optimization
